Three measurements

From reference to canvas in one calculation

Use the same unit for the reference and target. The ratio determines the scale; rows and columns determine where every line belongs.

  1. 01

    Measure both sizes

Enter the reference and the target width and height.

  2. 02

    Choose a grid

Set columns and rows that give you useful drawing cells.

  3. 03

    Mark the canvas

Use the target cell width and height to place each line.

What the numbers mean

Keep scale and grid spacing separate

Scale factor

Target width ÷ reference width gives the enlargement or reduction. A 2× result means every distance doubles.

Cell dimensions

Target width ÷ columns gives each cell's width; target height ÷ rows gives its height.

Aspect ratio

Width and height must change by the same factor. If they do not, the transferred drawing will stretch.
